Four years ago I learned calligraphy from a local calligrapher here in Denver. I had a full-time job that paid me decent money, my boss was incredible, and I really had nothing to complain about. Except for the fact that I was staring at a computer for 8-10 hours per day, and it was slowly draining me.
I have always been an artist, ever since I could pick up a pen or a pencil, art was a huge part of my life. Somewhere along the way, I decided that my job was more important than my love for art, and that was a huge disappointment.
So, I decided to learn calligraphy! I figured, what’s the most analog thing I could do with my time, and figured calligraphy was it. I took a 2-hour class and was immediately hooked. It inspired me to slow down and just make art. I got back into drawing, and watercolors. Now I can't imagine doing anything else.
I have decided to my love for calligraphy by offering a beginner friendly class on June 30th! I've partnered with The Craftsman and Apprentice to host a 2.5-hour class. My second favorite thing besides art, is teaching, so I’m really excited to be able to offer this workshop and combine my favorite things.
What will you learn?
You'll learn modern pointed pen calligraphy in this beginner-friendly workshop. We'll cover all the bases: what a pointed pen is (and how to use it), dipping your pen in ink, controlling ink flow, writing the whole alphabet, and ways you can practice at home.
